Deep within the captivating rolling meadows, lived a shepherd boy. His being was mostly pure, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was essentially to tend to his herd of sheep.

Their low murmuring and the murmuring of the breezes through the single tree on the peak were his constant co-dwellers. Day upon day, watching over his wards instilled in him a notion of quiet fulfillment.

But, there were occasional moments of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would pine for fellowship. On one such day because of sheer monotony, the shepherd boy devised a naughty scheme.

Tales of predators hunting on sheep had been heard times and again in the town. So, the boy opted to leveraged this fear and played a trick on the villagers.

One afternoon he raced into the village screaming “Wolf! A wolf is preying on my sheep!” The scared villagers rushed up the hills to offer assistance but discovered no beast.

The boy chuckled at the confusion on their faces. This game persisted for a few days more. But, one noon, a real wolf did come to prey the herd. The shepherd boy raced for aid screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but could rescue only few of his sheep. Devastated, check here he went back to the village only to receive a scolding on honesty and the repercussions of false alarms.
